With Yamaha’s unique engine orientation, it places that header right in front of the rear shock. As you ride, the heat from the header will have negative effects on the rear shock performance as the viscosity of the oil in the shock is affected by the heat. This carbon fiber heat shield coupled with heat deflection tape deflects the heat and maintains rear shock performance throughout a moto, race, ride or whatever it is you do on your YZ450. A must have for any enthusiast!
